As it pertains to the transition to our Critical Care fellowship program, if the resident is in good academic as well as professional standing, and so chooses, they will make the transition to the fellowship ranks halfway through their fifth year. It will entail a total of a year and a half of fellowship training with emphasis on Critical Care. At that time, the resident will be considered to have completed their EM/IM residency training and will transition fully into our mother fellowship program here at ECU Health Medical Center.
