Visiting Student Acting Internship In Emergency Medicine EMRG 9407
To provide non-BSOM students an immersive experience in Emergency Medicine. This course designed for a student interested in pursuing emergency medicine as a career. It includes primary exposure to the broad spectrum of acute care, medical/surgical emergencies as well as the resuscitation of critically ill/injured patients.
- Students will spend a 4-week clinical rotation in the ECU/ECU Health Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine. They will have primary responsibility of evaluating and caring for ED patients under the supervision of an ECU Emergency Medicine Physician or a Senior ECU Emergency Medicine Resident.
- Students will participate in weekly resident conferences as well as simulated patient encounters in the ECU simulation lab.
- Students will present one or more evidence-based power point presentations(s).
- Students will do one patient follow-up project using the medical literature to evaluate the care of the patient in the emergency department.
