Resident Research

As one of the first established EM residencies in the country, our longstanding commitment to resident Research and Academics has always been a foundational commitment to our learners and their success!

East Carolina University Department of Emergency Medicine faculty strongly supports the innovative and inquisitive minds of its residents – encouraging and assisting them in their goals of developing research and academic projects that will change present and future practice of EM

Our faculty act as mentors, facilitators, originators and co-investigators for clinical and academic activities for these required activities with our residents.

During training, every resident is involved in an original research or academic project that frequently results in posters or presentations at regional or national conferences and publications. These have included independent and national projects, reviews of the literature, case reports, on-line publications, or other topic of interest. The Division of Research provides faculty assistance at all levels.
